Dr. Sara Lorenz
To encapsulate in just a few words the beautiful life my friend (Dr. Roos) lived, would be impossible. I will focus on sharing some of the things that were most remarkable to me..Dr. Roos and I were colleagues and friends. For the last several years, she and I worked in the same hallway at Cape Care for Women. I admired her dedication to her work and her compassion for her patients. I often sought out her advice for challenging cases. I trusted her completely and her opinion was invaluable. The practice, her patients, and her family have suffered a great loss.
She would always make room in her schedule for an extra patient. Often I would overhear her speaking with a patient after hours about what the next step in her care would be. She prayed before she operated on patients. She was always worried about something (on behalf of a patient). Even if the concern was unlikely—she had thought of everything. Her patient care was excellent.
After her passing, it became apparent that I had underestimated her greatness. She gave more to Saint Francis Medical Center and her patients than I had realized. The outpouring of love reflected in personal stories from staff and patients was overwhelming. I agree wholeheartedly with Jim Lawrence, who said, “I am sure she has obtained her reward. “Well done, my faithful daughter."” And now, her family has made a generous donation of this bench so that we may always have a dedicated space to sit and reflect on the beautiful life of one of God’s greatest servants. Thank you!
